Lost-wax casting

Europe’s largest sculpture and statue seller offer you more than 1000 bronze figures. All of the bronze sculptures are made with the help of the lost-wax casting.

The lost wax method refers to a process for the production of castings in the form of bronze statues, jewellery and decorative parts. The procedure is virtually unchanged for thousands of years. The making of bronze sculptures has a long history. The traditional craft goes back to the time around 2500 BC.

A first step is the modelling of a figure by an artist. Therefore the term assembly line production is the wrong term, if someone talks about the manufacturing of bronze sculptures. silicone covers the model during a next step. Using silicone means becoming a very exact copy of the model made by the artist. As soon as the silicone is dry, the model is covered with cast and sisal, depending of the size also with iron.
