Bronze Figure - La Renomee (The Fame) - sign. Louis-Ernest Barrias
The adjoining bronze figure is a represantation of Victoria by the French sculptor Louis-Ernest Barrias entitled "La Renomee". Victoria is a Goddess of Victory in Roman mythology. Their Greek equivalent is called Nike. So the title of the sculpture is not surprising: La Renomee means something like "Fame", also: "Victory". The bronze cast is positioned on an attractive marble base. Louis-Ernest Barrias was a French sculptor of the Beaux-Arts school.
