"Diana with Hound" is a mythological large sculpture that was created by Edward McCartan (1879-1947). Diana, Roman goddess of the hunt, holds a bow in one hand and restrains her hunting dog with the other. The crisp outline of her body and her balletic pose are as much the topic of this sculpture as its mythological source.

Edward Francis McCartan (1879-1947) was an American sculptor, best known for his decorative bronzes done in an elegant style popular in the 1920s. Posthumously honored by the National Sculpture Society, his public monuments were fewóbut the Eugene Field Memorial ("Winken, Blinken, and Nod") can still be found in the Lincoln Park Zoo, Chicago. Other work can be found at Brookgreen Gardens in South Carolina.
